Icicles are falling from the gutters and
snow banks are turning into tiny rivers, carrying ants and moss pieces away with it.
Outside smells like Spring and with it brings memories of when I was little,
climbing the big tree beside the cemetery.
There was a house with millions of hammocks and millions of tree lanterns,
little tea lights flickering always. and a big tree with even bigger
exposed roots. I think there was a large rope and tire hanging from it. At night,
when the fireflies used to actually come out, I would be pushed so high my feet would
touch the middle branches. I was always a little scared of being flung far off
into the night sky and never coming down again.
The girls with long hair and freckles who lived there were all
sisters and they were my spring time friends. I'm not sure if they're even real.
this smell makes them seem oh so vivid in my mind.
